Service overview

When you need this service

  • A new noise source is being introduced or technology is changing
  • KHS, the building authority or EIA requires a noise study
  • Occupancy approval, change of use or a neighbourhood complaint is in progress
  • You are verifying the effectiveness of noise control measures before implementation

What we provide

  • We prepare noise calculations for technologies, sites, HVAC, heat pumps and transport
  • We assess daytime and nighttime operating modes and source location variants
  • We evaluate results against limits and protected outdoor areas
  • We propose noise mitigation or operational adjustments when limit exceedance is likely

What you receive

  • noise study with calculation and evaluation
  • proposal of noise control or operational measures
  • supporting documentation for KHS, building permitting, occupancy approval or EIA

How to get started

For an initial scope assessment, please send:

  • project layout and noise source locations
  • project documentation or equipment technical data sheets
  • operating schedule for daytime and nighttime periods
Request a noise study
Additional information for preparing your inquiry

Practical project examples

  • noise study for outdoor heat pump units and HVAC
  • noise study for an industrial site with night-time operation
  • assessment of transport noise within a site or service road

Typical mistakes and risks

  • Confusing a noise study with noise measurement for a project not yet implemented
  • Incomplete data on night-time operating mode
  • Overlooking concurrent operation of multiple noise sources on site

FAQ for this service

When do we need noise measurement?

Order noise measurement for occupancy approval, complaints, technology change, new equipment, workplace inspection, verification of measures or on instruction from KHS or the building authority.

What is the difference between noise measurement and a noise study?

Noise measurement verifies the actual state at a specific location and time. A noise study evaluates an expected or modelled state — for example a new technology, industrial site, transport, HVAC, heat pump or operational change.

What standards apply to noise evaluation?

It depends on whether the noise is at the workplace, in a protected outdoor area, in the protected outdoor area of buildings or in the protected indoor area of buildings.

Who is responsible for ensuring noise does not exceed hygienic limits?

A person who uses or operates machinery, equipment or a facility whose operation generates noise is obliged to ensure by technical, organisational and other measures that noise does not exceed hygienic limits in protected areas.

Can noise be addressed before technology installation?

Yes. Before installing technology, prepare a noise study or acoustic assessment — this allows timely adjustment of source location, output, operating mode or noise control measures.
