Hygiene measurements

Workplace environment, job categorisation.

← Back to typical projects

Examples of assignments combining measurements, studies, operating documentation and outputs for authorities.

Workplace environment in a welding shop or metal fabrication

Welding, grinding, spot welding, pressing, or other metal fabrication took place at the workplace. The operator needed to assess employee exposure. Determine measured factors, for example welding fumes, metals, CO, NOx, ozone, noise, microclimate, or lighting. We reviewed work activities, exposure duration, materials used, and extraction. We performed measurements in workers' breathing zones or at the workplace and evaluated results against hygiene limits.

Deliverable: Workplace environment measurement report and expert evaluation for job categorisation.

Wood dust measurement in a carpentry or woodworking operation

Cutting, sanding, milling, or manufacture of wood products took place at the workplace. The exposure source was wood dust and machine noise. Perform dust measurement in workplace air, assess exposure duration, and supplement with noise measurement where applicable. We identified representative work activities, performed personal dust sampling in workers' breathing zones, and evaluated results against hygiene limits.

Deliverable: Workplace environment measurement report.

Chemical substance measurement at a production line

Chemical products, adhesives, solvents, degreasers, cleaning agents, or other substances with potential worker exposure were used at the workplace. From safety data sheets and work procedures determine relevant substances and propose a sampling approach. We evaluated safety data sheets, work duration, ventilation method, and work procedure. We performed sampling in the worker's breathing zone or at the workplace.

Deliverable: Chemical substance measurement report for workplace environment.

Workplace environment measurement in a paint shop

Workers were exposed to organic substances during coating application or equipment cleaning. Noise, microclimate, and ventilation could also be significant. Select relevant substances from technical and safety data sheets and determine an appropriate sampling strategy. We checked coating materials, thinners, and cleaning agents used. We performed personal or stationary sampling and evaluated worker exposure.

Deliverable: Workplace environment measurement report with evaluation.

Microclimate measurement at thermal technology

Workers moved near a press, furnace, dryer, or other thermal technology. Exposure could be short but intense. Measure temperature, relative humidity, air flow, and other microclimate parameters in relation to physical load and worker clothing. We measured microclimate at work positions, described work activity and work regime, and evaluated results against workplace environment requirements.

Deliverable: Microclimate measurement report.

Noise measurement at multiple production positions

The hall had multiple machines and work activities. The employer needed to objectively determine worker noise exposure. Select representative work positions, activities, and measurement duration so that results reflect normal exposure. We measured noise at individual positions, supplemented with activity descriptions, and evaluated results against hygiene limits.

Deliverable: Workplace noise measurement report.

Artificial lighting measurement in a hall, school, or public building

It was necessary to demonstrate whether lighting met requirements for the type of work or operation in the building. Measure illuminance at work or user locations and evaluate results according to the space characteristics. We designed a measurement grid, performed illuminance measurements, and prepared a clear evaluation for individual spaces or work positions.

Deliverable: Artificial lighting measurement report.

Comprehensive workplace environment measurement: noise, microclimate, and chemical substances

Various factors combined at the workplace: noise, chemical substances, microclimate, dust, or lighting. The operator needed one comprehensive document for further decision-making. Design the measurement scope to cover relevant factors while matching actual work activities. We reviewed work positions, exposure times, safety data sheets, operating regime, and then performed coordinated measurement of multiple factors in one visit.

Deliverable: Set of reports or one summary expert output according to measurement type.

Laboratory or cleanroom – organic substances, microclimate, and ventilation

Organic substances, cleaning chemicals, or laboratory preparations were used at the workplace. Microclimate, ventilation, or environment cleanliness were also important. Determine relevant substances and workplace environment factors from safety data sheets and work activities. We checked substances used, work regime, ventilation, and exposure duration. We performed organic substance sampling and microclimate, lighting, or noise measurement where applicable.

Deliverable: Workplace environment measurement report.

Inspection measurement following a KHS request

KHS required documentation of worker exposure to noise, chemical substances, dust, microclimate, lighting, or vibrations. Correctly interpret the KHS request, design the measurement scope, and prepare documentation usable for hygiene purposes. We reviewed the KHS request or requirement, work activities, shift pattern, and available documentation. We then performed measurements and prepared the report.

Deliverable: Workplace environment measurement report and expert evaluation.
